Journal #6

Page 66
1.  Talking about her child in public and posting contact information up for everyone to see.
2.  Labeling the child with a diagnosis and giving personal informational out to the parents.
3.  No, but the parent should have talked to the director and the teacher to let them if he had a disability.
4.  The parent, teacher, and the director.
5.  I think the teacher should have introduced the child and guide him to play with others.
6.  I would have let him keep his Elmo and let him know it was just for today and let him eat in the office with his lunch.
7.  It was not right. She should have been in a not so public place.
8.  Staff should not discuss personal information about a child to one another unless they are in a classroom together and it is important for them to know.
9.  I would have a staff meeting about what is ok to discuss with other fellow workers and how we respect out families.
10.                 Yes, because there are too many things that were discuss with fellow workers and parents.
11.                I would have moved Eric to another center. Sometimes children need special care that certain centers cant not provide.

Journal #4

I really don’t like when someone just comes with me with just complaints. That is negative energy that can cloud your mind. When having negative energy, you can’t focus on your daily activities. I would like that person to greet me then say they have a problem with something I have done something or something that was reported back to them from another staff or their child. It is very rude and makes you not ever want to talk to them. I would always make myself look busy, so I would have to hear them talk to me. I always use someone name when talking to them. It lets them know that you are talking to them and it a conversation for just you and that person. My mother named me, so I think people should greet other people by their name or in a friendly manner. I would not want to talk to someone every day and not even greet them. Eye contact is eye to any way to communicate with people. It is very important. You use eye contact to communicate many emotions. Talking to people with you need eye contact. When you don’t have it, that people will not focus on the conversation at head. I have done this before to a few people. I understand that I didn’t treat them well, but I was very upset that that moment. I should have step back and just and breathe before I went up to that person beforehand.

Journal #3

Activity 2.1 page 18 and 19
Some of our students have allergies. I would inform the parent that why we cannot have cookies with nuts in them and have look over the handbook again. I would suggest some recipes for them to cook or have them buy store brought treats with not nut product in them. I would have them understand the rationale behind the center’s policies.
I would tell the teacher that I cannot allow her to always have this shift. She would have to ask someone if they wanted to switch shifts with her, or maybe just not work on Fridays because it would have not been fair to other employees.
Activity 2.2 page22 and 23
I would talk to the teacher about the lesson plan. I would talk to her and let her know that I will help her or find resources for her to use to create her own lesson plan.

Journal #2

Activity 1.1 page 2
The audience is current families and students, vendors, neighbors, staff, future students and families.
Effective communication strategies would be advertising the business during an open house to the community. For example: Happy Feet (soccer) and Muckin Music (provides effective music learning). Encourage parent involvement and inform the community about discounts to military and students. This will allow the community to get involve to meet and greet the staff and students.
Activity 1.2 page 4
I think the conversation was not professional. I would have been professional when talking to the parent. I feel like the staff should have not determined how the parent should feel. The staff should have provided empathy to the student and the parent. The staff could have provided resources to them to explain biting, also reassure the parents that the situation has been taken care of. They should leave the parent feeling comfortable that their child is safe.
Activity 1.3 page 9
In the future I see my business as to provide materials, opportunities, modeling, and mentoring young children of all ages and to develop attitudes, knowledge, and skills to be effective and positive young men and woman.
Before setting my prices in my child care center I would research other child care centers in the area and base my prices lower than what they care charging in their program.
Yes, because I would have a weekly curriculum, 3star program, and an accredited center with NAYCE. I would encourage all employees to have a CDA, CCP, or an associate  degree.
All teachers would have to have a degree or currently working on a degree.
Always room for improvement; I would provide the center with more outside resources.

Journal #1

My name is Andi. I am a Master Teacher over the Older Two's class and have been here in this class since Jan 2012. I choose child care because I love working with children. I have always wanted to work with children since I was a child. I think education is important because if you know better, you would do better. I seen how important education is to my family and they have installed that theory into me since a young child.
